The Certification Process
eWDP Exam is entirely practical and can be taken from remote.
eWDP certification does not require re-certification.
This page does not replace the Terms of service for the certification that you have to read, understand and agree to before you use your voucher.
This is the certification process:
- Obtain a voucher 1
Whether you are attempting the eWDP certification exam on your own or after having attended one of our approved training courses, you will need to obtain a voucher before you can start your certification process. Please note that PWD course includes a free voucher in the Full and Elite plans
Once you obtain the voucher you will receive login credentials to our Certification area where you will manage the exam and everything related to the certification process from the beginning up to the shipment of your certificate.
- Begin the certification process
Every voucher expires after 180 days from purchase unless you have the Infinity voucher which comes with no expiration.
Before the certification expires, you will have to begin the certification process by clicking on "Begin certification process".
The expiration date will always be available in your certification area and reminder emails are sent to make sure you take advantage of the voucher.
- Theoretical Test - Stage 1
As soon as you click on the "Begin certification process" button you will be able to start your theoretical test consisting of 60 multiple choice questions.
You have 90 minutes to respond to these questions.
Please make sure that your internet connection is reliable: should you fail to submit your exam within 90 minutes, you will lose the whole voucher without free retakes.
Every correct answer will give you one point. You need at least 45 points (75%) to pass the Stage 1.
Once you submit your exam, you will immediately know the final score.Failing to pass Stage 1 will determine the loss of the voucher.
- Practical Test - Stage 2
Once you have successfully completed Stage 1, you have 14 days to start the Stage 2: the Practical Test.
In the practical test you will have to solve a complex Web Defense Challenge. In a similar fashion to most labs throughout the course, the student is expected to follow the format of the course video labs during the exam.
In the Stage 2 the student will have to identify, demonstrate, fix and virtually patch ALL security issues in a vulnerable web application. A minimum percentage of vulnerabilities will have to be correctly identified, demonstrated, fixed and virtually patched for the student to be able to pass the exam.
If a virtual patch is not possible, the student must provide a reasonable explanation about why this is the case.
Since this is a defense course, reporting will be done in a code review style: Vulnerabilities, Fixes and Virtual Patches by Application File (using a template provided in the exam). However, the student will also provide the relevant configuration and application files for the fixes and virtual patches.
You will have 14 days to complete the exam, including report writing.
IMPORTANT: Submitting extra miles will increase the chances of passing the exam in cases when the student is close to pass. However, if a student took the time to solve most extra miles chances are they will be significantly more prepared for the exam.
- Obtain your results
One of our instructors will carefully review your report and if your findings and the quality of the report is deemed sufficient to pass the exam, you will become an eWDP.
Should you fail the first attempt of Practical Exam (Part2), you will be notified via email and will be entitled for a free retake.
The retake duration will be of 7 DAYS and will begin immediately from the moment you review the examiner's feedback.During this period, the exam lab will be re-opened for further tests. NOTE:In case you don't review the examiner's feedback, the exam retake will automatically start after 7 days
Once you pass the exam you will find the digital certificate immediately downloadable and verifiable.
